In Germany, a Kurdish man has been sentenced to life in prison for ordering the honor killing of his daughter after he found out she lost her virginity and had secretly undergone an abortion. The man's 20-year-old son and a friend, 37, lured the girl to an empty road where they tied her up and bashed her face in. The actual murderers received a fairly light sentence in comparison with the one who ordered the killing. Due to his age, the son received 9 1/2 years and his assistant only got 7 1/2. Here's hoping they have those much-feared "Bubba" types in the German prison system.
Hundreds of Dead Animals Found in Home
In a Philadelphia home, police found up to 500 dead animals that were used in some bizarre religious ritual. The remains found include cats, deers, monkey, beavers, cobras and even leopards (!). As sickening as it sounds, sacrificing animals for religious purposes is apparently legal if the rituals are carried out humanely. Don't know about you but the idea of "humane killing" (for nonsensical purposes, specifically) has always struck me as an amusing contradiction.
And finally...Cop Uses Billy Club During Church Service
In Germany, a police officer has been suspended from duty after being caught having sex during a church service. Police said that a church visitor discovered the officer with a lady doing the wild thing during an early-morning service last week. Disturbing religious activities can carry a sentence of up to three years in prison in Germany, apparently.
