Taliban uses firing squad to kill young couple for eloping

In Kabul, a Taliban firing squad killed a young couple for trying to elope.

The woman, 19, and the man, 21, were accused by the militants of immoral acts, and a council of conservative clerics decided the two should be killed for their troubles.

The couple had fled from their homes in a Taliban-controlled province of Afganistan, hoping to travel to Iran (that should give you an idea of how oppressive the local regime is), but their parents sent villages to bring them back. It is unclear whether the couple's parents turned them over to the Taliban or the militants came and took them by force. Either way, these are clear-cut examples of senseless murders mandated by religious wackos following the supposed-directives of a higher (albeit invisible) power.

I wonder what the UN and the European politicians advocating for Sharia Law think about this? Oh wait, an article like this wouldn't even be published if the Islamists have their way. Scary.
